Want To Really Change Your Life? Get Colour Happy!
Becoming colour conscious transformed my life. Here’s how it happened.

When I was about 4 or 5 I had a pair of bright red trainers with rainbows on the sides. I wore them everywhere. With my turquoise two-piece. With my yellow t-shirt. Even on a carnival float with a leotard that was covered in red sequins.
I bloody loved those trainers.
Then around aged 7 everything started to go dark. Black, to be precise. And that’s how it stayed for 40 years.
FORTY F*CKING YEARS!!
Then, last year I got colour happy and my life changed dramatically.

I’ve been on my healing journey now for 10 years.
Actually, that’s not true. The first five were a total shit show - my life spiralled out of control and I went completely off the rails all the while kidding myself that everything was fine.
It wasn’t until 2019 when I started painting my way out of the darkness that things started to improve.
Then, when we were all forced to stay indoors for 6 months (remember that? That was weird, wasn’t it?) it got even better.
Without access to the toxic influences and destructive behaviours that were slowly ruining me, there was nothing else to do but spend my days creatively, working my way through my emotions and spilling them out on to canvas.
I felt lighter, happier and calmer with every brush stroke, and for the first time in my life I actually liked who I was becoming.
As my artwork progressed it was easy to see the transformation: what started out very dark and stormy was gradually becoming brighter as I brought more and more white into each piece yet, there was something missing: colour.
Getting colour curious
Here’s the thing. I have always loved vibrant colours but for some reason, in both my art and life in general, I was finding them hard to work with. I always gravitated towards dark or neutral shades. I just wasn’t comfortable with vivid hues.
So, last year, I started to get curious. Why was that? What was it about colour that I was so resistant to?
When I came across colour therapy the answer smacked me in the face harder than a right hook from Oleksandr Usyk. Wearing a diamond knuckle duster. While trying to explain string theory.
Colour attracted attention.
Thanks to childhood trauma I had subconsciously spent my life hiding. Black and grey were my go-to’s. If I wore black no-one would see me. I would be invisible. I would be safe.
Deeper work revealed several colour blocks and since becoming aware of these I have been able to address the issues they raised and open myself up to a whole new way of being. I have healed more, grown more and transformed beyond all recognition.

Becoming colour conscious
Incorporating more colour into my life has had a profound effect. I have more energy, I’m confident, I am more emotionally equanimous and I’m able to let things flow more easily.
Consciously bringing different colours into my energy field depending on how I want to feel has been a game changer.
Using colour with intention to enhance my mood or to instil an emotion has led to some huge breakthroughs both personally and professionally - now I want to be seen. In fact, my soul craves it.
Whether it’s through what I’m wearing (if it’s a red-knicker day, watch out! 😆), the crystals I use in meditation, or even the food I eat, colour is now an integral part of my day.
I am more colour confident than ever and happier as a result.
Being colour happy
Living this colour happy lifestyle doesn’t mean I need to dress like a unicorn threw up on me or decorate my home like Liberace. It’s about using the right colours consciously and strategically to create a feel-good vibe that’s effortless to maintain.
‘Colour’ doesn’t even have to mean loud. Muted, or ‘quiet’ colours have their uses too (I still love them) - it’s all about using colour in a way that makes you feel aligned.
Colour has been a remarkable tool in helping me find myself, and working with my soul colour on a daily basis is a good way to remind myself of who I am at my core, underneath all the shiz.
I’m literally a being of beautiful light and I’m no longer afraid to show my true colours.
