The Unexpected Side of Manifesting That No-one Talks About
So you manifested something big but it doesn’t feel like it should - here’s why and what to do next.

I’ve been in my new home for just over two months now. I recently wrote about how I manifested it with the help of colour therapy but what happened next took me totally by surprise.
In this post I want to address something that you rarely hear manifesting gurus talk about: what happens post-manifestation, how to navigate the inevitable influx of emotions you will experience and the next steps to take.
We’ll look at:
The magic of manifesting
What happens after you receive your manifestation.
How to use colour therapy to manage your emotions and help you manifest even more.
The thrill of successfully manifesting something big into your life is certainly cause for celebration. Whether it's a new job, your soul mate, or in my case, my dream home, the power of manifestation is a transformative experience.
It should also be a joyful one, right?
The Magic of Manifesting
When you manifest, you are essentially co-creating with the universe. You are tapping into the infinite flow of energy that exists all around us and harnessing it to bring about positive change in your life.
By focusing on what you want, believing that it is possible, and taking aligned action, you can begin to see amazing results unfold before your eyes.
Some manifestations can happen quite quickly, in which case, after the excitement and anticipation, you can reset your nervous system soon afterwards.
However, sometimes, as in the case of my dream home, it can take several years. This can be a double-edged sword: on the one hand you are constantly working excitedly towards it but on the other you’re wondering if it will ever happen!
You run the full gamut of emotions during the manifesting process - I went from being super excited to manic-festing (ie. trying to force an outcome) to accepting that it might not happen and being ok if it didn’t…and that’s when the magic happens!
It was only when I let go and let the Universe know that I was good either way that my manifestation showed up. After years of visualising and taking aligned action, and then six months of uncertainty, I finally moved in to my dream home.
But what happened in the aftermath was totally unexpected.
What happens after you receive your manifestation
Manifestation is a powerful process that not only makes your dreams a reality but also challenges you to grow and evolve. Receiving something you've manifested can trigger a mix of emotions: excitement, gratitude, or even ambivalence.

You may feel overjoyed at achieving what you've worked so hard to attract, but simultaneously, doubts and insecurities might surface.
This is the part that no-one really talks about.
Embracing the emotion
In the weeks after uprooting my entire life and relocating to a completely different part of the country I rode the usual emotional rollercoaster that we go on when moving house - exhaustion, discombobulation, relief and a sense of accomplishment.
But after they subsided, instead of the feelings of joy and happiness that I was anticipating, I was racked with fear and guilt.
I felt terrified that somehow it was all going to be taken away from me, that it would all quite literally come crashing down around me. I was too embarrassed to share any of it on social media because I felt guilty for having been able to buy such a lovely home.
I discovered that my parents and grandparents had gone through a lot of trauma in relation to their homes and a lot of the guilt I was feeling came from this - I felt totally unworthy and my ego ran amok: who am I to have all this? I don’t need all this space, I shouldn’t have spent so much money. I don’t deserve this, etc. etc…
I also realised that these feelings were surfacing as the result of overloading my energy field with too much red. I had been using it a lot to manifest safety, security and groundedness but such prolonged exposure had brought up all the negative connotations that go with it.
If you’ve experienced something similar when receiving a big manifestation, don’t panic! After doing some digging, it turns out it is perfectly normal!
Turning guilt into gratitude
Post-manifestation it’s important to take time to reflect on your journey. Consider keeping a journal to document your thoughts and feelings as you navigate this new reality. Writing can help you process your emotions, gain clarity, and reinforce the positive aspects of your manifestation.

Remember, your emotional response is valid, and allowing yourself to feel all the emotions—both positive and challenging—will help you integrate this change more smoothly.
I reframed my guilt into gratitude and mentally thanked my ancestors for making it possible for me to live this dream. I also thanked my past self for doing the healing work that had led me here and gave gratitude to my previous home for providing me with a safe space to do it.
How to use colour therapy to manage your emotions
Once you've manifested something significant, your life may look very different from before. This shift can be both exhilarating and disorienting. It's important to give yourself permission to adjust at your own pace. Change, even positive change, can be overwhelming. You might need to adapt to new routines, relationships, or responsibilities that come with your manifestation.
During this adjustment period, practice self-compassion. Understand that it's okay to feel out of your comfort zone as you acclimate to this new reality.
Colour therapy doesn’t just help you to get your manifestation, it can also support your emotional well-being once you have it.

Neutralising the negative and low vibrational emotions from all the red was a key part in adapting to my new life. To do so I began consciously absorbing all the green energy in my surroundings (luckily, being surrounded by so much nature made it easy!). Green is the opposite to red on the colour wheel and represents new beginnings, harmony and abundance. It is also the colour of the heart chakra so is a good colour to work with when self-soothing.
If you’re adapting to a new job try boosting your confidence and self-worth with yellow. If you’re in a new relationship and find that jealousy or insecurity is creeping in connect to your sacral chakra with orange and introduce some deep red or brown shades for stability.
Recognising when adverse emotions are taking over will help you identify what you need to bring in to rebalance. Whether you’re simply journalling with the appropriate coloured pen or lighting candles in the colour associated with what you want to feel, colour therapy provides an easily accessible way of working through your stuff.

In conclusion, manifesting something significant in your life is a powerful experience that brings a lot of joy but also challenges. It's essential to be prepared for this and to let yourself process the wide range of emotions that arise, allowing yourself to fully experience the excitement, gratitude, and even the uncertainties that come with change.
Adjusting to your new reality takes time and self-compassion, as you navigate the shifts in your life and realign your goals and values.
Then all you have to do is bask in your success and decide what you want to manifest next!
