Why Writing Down Your Goals is Essential

Physically writing down your goals with a pen and paper (a practice known as ‘scripting’) has a profound psychological impact that significantly enhances the manifestation process. When you commit your desires to paper, you're doing more than just recording thoughts—you're engaging the brain in a deliberate act of focus and intention.

This act of writing activates the reticular activating system (RAS), a network in your brain that filters and prioritises information. By writing your goals, you signal to your RAS what’s important, sharpening your focus and awareness on opportunities that align with those desires.

Moreover, the process of writing helps crystallise your intentions, transforming vague dreams into concrete, actionable objectives. This clarity reduces mental clutter and directs your energy toward what truly matters.

As you write, you're not only expressing what you want but also reinforcing your belief that these goals are attainable. This belief is crucial, as it aligns your subconscious mind with your conscious desires, creating a powerful synergy between thought and action.

By regularly reviewing and revisiting your written goals, you continuously realign your energy with your desires. This alignment amplifies your ability to manifest, as your thoughts, emotions, and actions are all in harmony, propelling you toward the life you envision.

Colour Psychology and Its Influence on Manifestation

Colour psychology plays a powerful role in the manifestation process, influencing both our energy and emotions in profound ways. Each colour carries its own vibrational frequency, which can affect our mood, focus, and motivation.

For example, red is a dynamic colour associated with passion, energy, and action, making it ideal for manifesting goals that require courage or taking the initiative. Blue, on the other hand, promotes clear self-expression and confidence, helping you to align with desires that involve communication or stepping out of your comfort zone.

When you incorporate specific colours into your manifestation list, you are doing more than just adding visual appeal—you are embedding your goals with the energy and emotional resonance of those colours.

This enhances your focus, as the colours act as psychological triggers that keep your mind aligned with your desires. For instance, green, the colour of growth and abundance, can be used to focus your energy on financial success or personal development.

Additionally, using colours that resonate with you personally makes your manifestation list more engaging and meaningful. It transforms your list into a vibrant, personalised tool that not only reflects your unique aspirations but also strengthens your emotional connection to your goals.

This connection is crucial for maintaining motivation and ensuring that your energy remains aligned with the outcomes you wish to manifest.

How to Create a Colourful Manifestation List

Scripting has become one of my favourite law of attraction practices and I used it a lot when I was focussing on manifesting my dream home.

When writing your list, be specific but don’t simply write one word at a time. I crafted a highly descriptive page of everything I wanted my new home to have in such a way that I would be able to feel what it was like as well as visualise it whenever I read the list back to myself.

I wanted to feel settled and safe in my dream home so I chose to write my list in a journal with a dark red cover and I used black ink (black is the colour of protection).

Infusing these colours into my subconscious helped to embed everything in and connect me to the emotions I wanted to feel when I thought about all the little details.

Here are some ideas to help you create a vibrant, purposeful manifestation list.

Choose the Right Colours for Your Goals

Colours carry symbolic meanings and emotional vibrations that can significantly enhance the manifestation process. When choosing colours for your manifestation list, consider the following associations:

  • Red: This bold colour is linked to stability, energy, and action. Use red to manifest goals related to the home or fitness.

  • Orange: A colour of creativity and enthusiasm, orange can help you attract new opportunities, enhance your social life, or ignite your creative projects.

  • Yellow: Representing joy, clarity and intellect, yellow is ideal for goals involving success in education, personal growth or boosting positivity.

  • Green: Often associated with abundance, healing and balance, green is perfect for financial goals and health improvements but also for fostering harmonious, loving relationships.

  • Blue: Allegedly the world’s favourite colour, blue is connected to communication, reliability and business. Use blue to enhance your professional relationships, express your authentic self, or for career advancements.

  • Purple: Symbolising spiritual growth, intuition and wisdom, purple can aid in manifesting spiritual goals, developing your intuition, or accessing higher wisdom.

  • Pink: Pink is associated with love, kindness and compassion. It's great to use for nurturing self-love, attracting romance, or to aid fertility.

  • White: Representing purity, wholeness and new beginnings, white can be used for goals that involve starting afresh, cleansing your life, or anything that requires practicality and efficiency.

When selecting colours, think about what each goal means to you personally. Don’t be afraid to combine colours to represent multiple aspects of a single intention. For example, if you’re starting a spiritual business and want it to be financially successful you might work with green, purple and blue.

Step-by-Step Guide to Writing Your Manifestation List

Once you’ve chosen the colours that resonate with your goals, it’s time to bring your manifestation list to life. You can be as creative as you like and have fun with it!

Follow these steps to craft a powerful, colourful list:

  1. Set the Scene: Before you begin, create a calm, focused environment. Light a candle, play soft music, or meditate briefly to centre your energy.

  2. Gather Your Supplies: You’ll need paper or a notebook, coloured pens or markers, and any additional decorative elements like stickers or washi tape. Remember, this is primarily a writing exercise so save the images for your vision board.

  3. Define Your Goals: Start by clearly defining what you want to manifest. Write each goal in a positive, present-tense statement as if it’s already happening (e.g., “I am thriving in my new career”).

  4. Assign Colours to Each Goal: Refer to the colour associations you’ve chosen and write each goal in the corresponding colour. For example, write financial goals in green or romantic intentions in pink.

  5. Focus on Feeling: As you write and embellish, focus on the feelings you want to experience when your goals manifest. Infuse each word with emotion, visualising your goals coming to life.

  6. Review and Reflect: Once your list is complete, take a moment to review it. Reflect on each goal, reaffirming your belief that it is on its way to you. Keep your list somewhere you’ll see it daily or use it as part of a regular manifestation practice.

  7. Release and Trust: After completing your list, release your intentions to the universe with trust and gratitude. Believe that your desires are already manifesting, and let go of any attachment to how or when they’ll come to fruition.

This colourful and creative approach transforms your manifestation practice into a vibrant, dynamic and fun ritual that draws your dreams closer to reality with every glance, making the process more engaging and enjoyable but also amplifying the vibrational energy behind each intention.
