Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind - With Colour!

Your instinctive reactions to colour aren’t random—they’re a clue to your next level self

There are a million tools out there to help you rewire your subconscious patterns. You journal. You meditate. You repeat affirmations. You try to think your way to a better you.

I’m guessing you’ve tried all these things and still find yourself repeating the same behaviours.

This isn’t because these methods don’t work—it’s because you’re trying to change something before you know what needs changing.

It’s like putting a band aid over the thorn in your finger instead of pulling it out first.

So forget mindset hacks for a second.

If you really want to make shift happen you need to begin by understanding what your subconsciousis saying. Because it’s communicating constantly. You’re just not speaking its language.

That language is colour.

Colour isn’t aesthetic. It’s information.

Most people treat colour as a style choice—what looks good, what’s on trend.

But psychologically, colour is far more precise than that.

It’s a frequency, one that interacts with our own. It reflects emotional states, internal tension, and unmet needs. When translated, it’s like getting a print out of raw data from your internal operating system.

This idea isn’t new. Carl Jung saw colour as symbolic of unconscious processes, while Max Lüscher used colour preference to assess emotional states and stress levels.

Fun fact: I was actually doing this intuitively with my colour readings before I’d even heard of Max Lüscher!

And even though there is little research to explain why colour is so influential on our mood, energy, and behaviour, there is no doubt it is.

In simple terms: your reactions to colour aren’t random. They’re diagnostic.

Attraction and resistance - the key colour cues

To begin understanding the language of the subconscious, there are two signals you need to pay attention to:

1. The colours you’re drawn to
These point to what your system is craving, and what it’s trying to move towards—your desires, needs, and the emotional states you’re ready to embody.

2. The colours you avoid
This is where it gets interesting. Avoidance usually signals resistance—fear, conditioning, or parts of yourself you’ve suppressed.

And that’s where the real work is.

Because the colours you reject often hold the key to your next level.

Why this works (when nothing else does)

Most personal development tools rely on conscious effort.

Colour doesn’t.

It bypasses logic and speaks directly to your nervous system. Your brain processes colour faster than thought, which means your response is honest—before you’ve had time to filter or overthink it.

That’s why it works so well for uncovering blocks.

It removes the guesswork. It’s basically like holding up a mirror to your mind.

Try this: a simple self-diagnostic

You don’t need a full reading to start seeing patterns.

  1. Look at a range of colours

  2. Choose one you’re strongly drawn to

  3. Choose one you instinctively dislike

Now ask yourself:

  • What emotions do these colours bring up?

  • Are there any childhood memories associated with these colours and if so, are they happy or sad?

  • Do I want more or less of this energy right now?

Don’t overthink it. Your first response is usually the most accurate.

Fade to black…

Once you can see what’s really going on beneath the surface, everything shifts.

You stop guessing what’s ‘wrong’ and you start working with clear, usable insight.

That’s how you begin the process of real transformation: with awareness. And only then you can start rewiring.

Colour doesn’t fix you. It shows you what the problem is.

And when you can see it, you can change it.
