Low Vibes? Try This Bright Winter Color Palette!

December’s energy is electric and this is the color palette to match.

You probably thought I was gonna get all Christmassy and go for the traditional red, green and gold, didn’t you?

Ha! If you’re a regular reader of this blog then you should know by now I like to do things differently (it’s my Magenta Soul, what can I say?).

Choosing a palette that obvious would be booooorrrinnngggg and we don’t do that here. We do fun, irreverent and a little bit edgy - which sums up this December color palette perfectly.

This combo is totally electric and will help you finish the year with a bang.

And they are bold, fresh and fearless - which is exactly the energy you want if you’re going to ‘sleigh’ the holidays (see what I did there?)!

So let’s go through each color in this bright winter palette one by one.

Black

Perhaps it’s because of its association with death that black is the color I ‘see’ whenever December is mentioned.

My dad died four days before Christmas in 2002 and it kinda ruined the holiday for me ever since.

Plus, there’s my somewhat toxic relationship with the color that I’ve had for most of my life that saw me using it for all the wrong reasons: black conceals things.

Buzz kill.

But it’s no longer about doom and gloom! More recently I have begun to see this unapologetically powerful color in a whole new light and treat it with the respect it deserves.

Black represents sophistication and control, making it perfect for cutting through December’s chaos.

Plus there’s the whole ‘LBD’ thing. Black oozes class, mystery, and downright sexiness which could put a whole new spin on ‘Secret Santa’ (winky face).

It’s a notoriously crazy month (if you let it be so) - black will help you protect your energy, set boundaries, and say “no” to that third helping of Christmas pudding.

Black is both your shield and your sword in December, allowing you to power through the month with poise and elegance.

White

Ah, white. The Christmas cliché.

Although can anyone remember the last time it actually snowed at Christmas in the UK??

After a year of all the things white brings much needed peace.

It’s the color of wholeness and completion so it’s ideal for wrapping up 2024 and tying it all together with a neat little bow.

Like that weird but blissful silence after a fresh snowfall, white offers purity and possibility, and while this color isn’t particularly stimulating it does open our minds and imagination.

White symbolises cleanliness and will help with all the mental and physical decluttering necessary to wipe the slate clean.

It’s the blank page waiting for you to write your 2025 story. So if you’ve been wanting to hit the cosmic reset button, white is the hue for you.

Turquoise

If this time of year leaves you feeling stressed, scattered and teetering on the edge of a full-on emotional breakdown then turquoise is your new BFF.

Turquoise is so relaxed, it’s practically horizontal.

Combining the calming energy of blue with a teeny bit of solar power, this totally tropical color will whisk you off to the Caribbean shores of your mind and hand you a margarita. With a curly straw. And one of those little paper umbrellas.

It’s a great color for restoring emotional balance thanks to its green vibes and will turn you into a multitasking goddess courtesy of its ability to instil clarity of thought and inspire quick-fire decision making.

Hot Pink

Wanna ditch the family dinner and f*ck off somewhere by yourself? Hot pink has got your back.

New Year’s Eve party that ends up with you waking up on a boat in the Baltic Sea with nothing but a packet of cigs, some loose change and a vague memory? That’s hot pink. (I actually know someone this happened to. It wasn’t me, I swear!)
