With the amount of information about manifesting that is available these days, it should be pretty easy right? The notion of summoning your desires into reality with mere thoughts is undeniably captivating. Simply writing down what you want and then seeing it appear before very eyes is incredibly alluring.
Yet, let's dispel a myth here: manifesting isn't akin to waving a magic wand and watching miracles unfold effortlessly. I’m sorry to disappoint you but it does actually require a bit of work!
If your aspirations remain elusive and are stuck firmly in dreamland, it’s time to examine some common missteps.
In this post we’ll address:
• What is manifesting?
• How manifesting works
• Three common manifesting mistakes
What is manifesting?
Firstly, let's address what manifesting isn't. Rhonda Byrne's acclaimed 2006 production, "The Secret," and its subsequent book have somewhat tarnished the reputation of manifesting, particularly among the skeptics, giving the impression that all you have to do is think about what you want hard enough and it will manifest.
According to the dictionary, manifesting entails making something clear or evident, bringing into existence that which occupies your thoughts. However, to exercise wishful thinking when manifesting is the first step to failure, here’s why:
Wishing implies a sense of lack and further supports the fact you don't already possess what you desire, perpetuating a cycle of scarcity. Here's the kicker: the Universe adjusts to your energetic vibration and subconscious beliefs. So, dwelling on thoughts like "I never have enough money" and feeling broke only reinforces that notion.
Positive affirmations are a great tool if you tend toward negative thoughts.
How manifesting works
Manifesting works by aligning your body, mind, and spirit, reshaping negative thoughts and beliefs into positive ones, empowering you to stride towards your goals instead of being held back by what you don't want.
Shockingly, about 90% of your daily thoughts mirror those of yesterday, with a staggering 85% being somewhat on the negative side. By fixating on what you lack, you perpetuate a low-vibration state, attracting similar energies.
By shifting your mindset towards abundance and possibility, and harnessing the power of intention, visualisation, and affirmation, you can tap into the universal forces at play and bring more of what you desire into your life.
There are many powerful manifestation techniques. Perhaps the most potent force, however, is embodiment. Sometimes mistaken for ‘fake it til you make it’, embodiment is about being that which you want to attract. For example, if you desire a loving relationship you must be loving, especially to yourself. This vibration then radiates outward, acting as a beacon and magnetising anything on the same frequency to you.
Three common manifesting mistakes
1. Inconsistency
To do anything well you need to be consistent. You wouldn’t go to the gym once and expect to achieve your ideal body would you? No, you’d make sure you work out regularly, eat healthily every day and take care of yourself.
Mastering any skill takes practice and manifesting is no different. If you're not dedicating at least 10-15 minutes daily to focus on your manifestations, well, don't hold your breath!
Meditation is a simple way to do this and creating a ritual space will help you to stick to it.
2. Attachment to the end goal
Moreover, fixating solely on the end goal can be a recipe for disillusionment.
Not seeing instant results can lead to impatience but if you break down your aspirations into practical steps, progress is much more measureable. Visualise yourself taking those steps, whether it's typing away at your manuscript or attending acting classes.
Avoid falling into the trap of "I'll be happy when...". Picture each stride towards your goal to diminish self-doubt and fear, thus making the journey enjoyable. The act of focussing on each step will also make embodiment easier.
3.Not taking aligned action
Now, here's where many stumble: taking action. Yes, manifesting involves actually doing something! Think of it as programming your GPS—you set the destination, but you still need to drive the car! It's about setting intentions and marrying them with purposeful action.
Remember, impatience can derail your manifestation journey. Trust the timing of the Universe; everything unfolds when it's meant to. Manifestation precedes desire; if you want it, know that it's on its way.
In essence, manifesting isn't a magic trick but a harmonious blend of intention, action, and belief. So, go ahead, create your magic with the knowing that it is already done.
